IYENGAR YOGA
Iyengar Yoga is a conscious refining and re-balancing of body, mind and soul to enhance stillness within and without, working from the outer layers of the body through the inner layers of the mind, to the most subtle layers of the soul. Precise alignment in asana (posture) allows energy to flow more freely and tunes our body into harmony with our mind and soul.
Rooted in the Krishnamacharya lineage, Iyengar Yoga (so called by its students), was created by our Guru BKS Iyengar to make the ancient Indian practices of Yoga asana (body postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) more accessible to Western bodies.
It is a form of Hatha Yoga known for its use of props, such as belts, blocks, chairs and blankets to assist
students in performing the asanas (postures) with more ease and correct alignment. Practicing with props ensure greater safety, as it minimises the risk of injury and strain, and makes difficult asanas accessible to all ages and body types.
Iyengar Yoga has therapeutic value and health
enhancing benefits gained through the development of strength, flexibility and stability in both body and mind.

The practice of Yoga asana and pranayama lights up the intelligence of our soul in every cell of our body.

"The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind & the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” - BKS Iyengar
